Power Rangers Super Dino Super Charge Super Episode 4, "A Date with Danger"

Oh boy. It feels like I finally care about Chases character instead of the Red Rangers since they spend so much time with his character and regretably failing. It's sad that I don't care about the red pink romance. Cuz they're really good and interesting characters, but it's just sorta missed and the series had such a waning start after false destroy the base starts that they don't execute or tease only to annoyingly not follow up on.

Ignore all the bad stuff.
Chase has an actual character now. Way better than Xander’s. Davies will have a career after Dino Charge.
Tyler actually gets his dad plot in an episode. It’ll probably be the only one prior to the finale which is sad considering he’s the Red Ranger and this is neither SPD nor RPM but the standards are so low now, I’ll take it.

It’s been 24 episodes but they finally got the Chase character to work. Good use of Tyler finally. I actually had a legit laugh.

Black Dino Charge Man Forever.

Power Rangers Mystic Force Episode 10, "Petrified Xander" and a little bit of Gatekeeper

I'm petrified alright.
There's a call pun when the Rangers have phones for some odd reason too.
It's actually not that bad of an episode. Not something I consider Power Rangers or comical, but it's for that demographic they want.
Watching it without Magiranger glasses, although ones expectation is that everyone should enjoy the show, I can see some fans enjoying it opposed to others. I myself didn't like it till 10 years later. I was annoyed by Xander, didn't get his perfection, egotistic character, as something audiences would enjoy, but enjoy it now. Understanding how his character works, as unremarkable and lame he is, it's still a character.
PUNS!
As annoying as those puns were, I feel like developing a sense of humor with my punny brother it got better.
I legit felt for Vida when she felt bad that Xander may die.

Clare comes in handy saving Xander, when it could've been Udonna.
The fists don't really make sense compared to Magiranger, but the spell is really just a MacGuffin this episode anyway. Adds a bit to Clare, even if the character could've been consolidated at not much really helps her character.

Also, I don't really learn anything about Xander, and this was a poor lead up to Gatekeeper, which itself was poor, because of its lacking of introducing a cool character like Rin was in Magiranger, but was a good use of resources.

I would've picked Phineas. or a lesser known extra. A fairy Gatekeeper would've made stuff more interesting.

Toby. He basically can find out who the Rangers are anyway.

Power Rangers Super Dino Super Charge Episode 2 Cons

  1. Power Rangers version of Jungle Fury Road: they fucking advertised that they were going to trash the base last week. Instead, this dumb shit happens. Yeah, storm the base.
  2. The Rangers are completely oblivious to the fact that he's a bad guy despite knowing his name is Heckyl. Is Disney still running this company? Is there some sort of Power Rangers x Inside Out crossover I'm unaware of? Albeit, realistically you shouldn't assume that the guy is a bad guy based on his name. It's fucking Power Rangers tho, so fuck that.
  3. Snide knows where the Rangers base is. If they had destroyed the base, it wouldn't be a problem.
  4. They write that out in the dumbest way possible. Heckyl looks like a dumbass for not remembering he has the amnesia drink with him.

My dad saying how the previous President of Taiwan isn't really the President and how it relates to modern day toku

My dad recently said the President of Taiwan wasn't really the President.
I asked "what (he) meant by that?"
He didn't mean it like you would in the US. He just meant that Taiwan wasn't better or worse. The President took no risks. No scandals. Nothing happened. The President was pretty much not the President and fairly non-existent to Taiwan.

What does that have to do with toku?

Modern toku corporations seem really dumb.
Say what you want about Den-O, but when that lady got pregnant, they had to change something about the show.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was a big hit. So the crew tried to keep the success going.
They kept the Green Ranger for longer and brought back Jason David Frank.
They didn't change the suits despite Dairanger footage.
They fired Thuy, Austin and Walter, which I debate wasn't a good idea but did do stuff with the mythos.
Then they brought the White Ranger anyway.
They brought the Aliens of Aquitar.
Then they finally brought in the new suits.
They Rocky got injured and had to be replaced.
They they replaced all the Turbo Rangers.
Then they replaced all of Zordon canon.

See stuff actually happened with management.

Everything post-Disney isn't as big of a hit.
Nothing really changes.
I mean I guess the same happened with Masked Rider.

But still. They're doing terrible and they're not doing anything is way worse than they're successful and not changing stuff.

Power Rangers Mystic Force Episode 8, "Stranger Within, Part 1" Review

Power Rangers Mystic Force, Episode 8, "Stranger Within, Part 1" still has the flaws that I recall the first time I watched it. Vida being a vampire was campy and it wasn't like Magiranger where it had a sort of preschool feel to it. Vida's actress had no idea what to do when she acted like a vampire, has no desire to portray one, and I can't really blame her.
She has a tan also, which really doesn't help when casting her as a pale skin vampire.
Also, there was really no storyline reason to copy this plot other than the Koragg zord fight scene. Just really lame and lazy in a show about entertainment and creativity.
Her wanting to fit in could've been worked into the DJ Fly storyline a bit better.

Chip becoming a part of Count V was nonsensical, but is played by a character who say this. The Rangers not believing Chip's belief in there not being vampires is soo obvious, cuz 1) it's true and 2) Chip believes in the nonsensical.
If it wasn't done in the Bruce Kalish fashion of Strange Times of Blake Holsey High title themes, I'd go with "Not a hero, just a friend" or "friend for life" as the title of the episode.

The episode could've been writing even better with having Vida as the main character in the beginning of the episode and Chip as the main character later, albeit it's debatable that they did that right.
Vida being the strong one makes sense, and defending Chip for being picked on. I may have even had this moment watching this when I was in college. It'd even be cool if Chip called Vida, his superhero. And Vida gives him back the favor.

However, this is me watching the episode and figuring out the process. Writing and then directing without that knowledge is very different, and being on that type of television schedule I could've screwed that up. That, and the fact, that they probably do all Rockporium scenes together, Rootcore, outside scenes, etc. shows that they did make a rather cohesive show given the shortcuts they did.

Chip does US fighting footage scene in the DJ Fly scene. DJ Fly could also refer to flying bats, which is an interesting US adaptation of that.

They also could've adapted the Vida being bad reveal into something else if you know spoilers.

That was a really good use of a cliffhanger.

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight debut response

I didn't know Ryuki
It was new
It wasn't Disney.
It was original.
Even if I didn't know Ryuki.
I only recall the pilot and when all the Ventara Riders meet.
I enjoyed its homage to VR Troopers.
Len was a cool Terminator Bruce Wayne character.
