Super 8: 3 Pros and 3 Cons

  1. Visual Effects: The train crash is so memorable. The effects are top quality and convincing. Nothing cartoon like.
  2. Acting: JJ Abrams really pulls off with directing actors with kids way better than his blockbuster fluff. Elle Fanning and Joel Courtney become stars in a film where kids are weak, but make a difference in a world run by immoral parents and troubling government.
  3. Homage to Spielberg: Little kid and an alien. Imaginary child theme. Evil Kubrickian government. The contrast between imaginary sci fi and real sci fi.

  1. Annoying kids
  2. Why did I have to see a kid vomit?
  3. An alien who we in the end do not really understand or care about. He basically made E.T. with a shitty unmemorable E.T. Maybe I am misinterpreting the invisible child theme.
